[rant] Plans

Tech just emailed me a "to-do-list", which I find funny, because most of what's on it is probably stuff he should be taking care of... especially since I've been pretty much throwing out releases left and right while everyone else was messing around.  Don't get me wrong, though - I had a wonderful Christmas, albeit half spent in the hospital.  I don't know if it's because I'm more serious about it than the others, but that's just how I roll.  

Speaking of which, I might as well update you guys on what's going on, at the moment.  I'm currently halfway done with the repacking of Mozaiku X Sanshimai Chapters 7 and 8.  Tech is getting over his hangover from Vegas, and he just threw a Panty & Stocking doujinshi on my lap; Dask is on vacation (possibly where I'm at, which means I need to hunt him down); Kraut is probably invading some random nation; and Scripted just sent me a cleaned copy of another Uraraka work she has planned for us.  So yeah... I guess that means they aren't dead.

But I had a weird spark go up in my head when I took a look at my bookshelf.  I've always been a fan of  Range Murata, and I've been collecting his ROBOT Super Manga series for quite some time.  I've only collected up to volume 6, but it struck me that there have only been Serialized English versions of this work up to volume 5... the remaining volumes 6 to 10 have yet to be translated. D:

So basically... that's a little "idea" I have in my head, right now.  I'm not about ready to unbind my copy of ROBOT, just yet... just wondering if other people have been waiting for the last 5 volumes, only to end up stuck on volume 5 for the last... I dunno, 2-3 years?

[update] About light sabers and whatnot...

I have to thank Oliver for this one, because I read a comment on his post of chapter 8 on his blog, and it mentioned about a tankoubon version of Sanshimai (not printed in the penguin club thingy) that features no light sabers/lasers - rather, a very inconspicuous translucent bar that just begs being teased off like a band-aid.  If you didn't get that... less censorship, more umph.

I wasn't aware of this version because the RAWs I was given were the original chapters featured in a monthly manga release (take note of the differences in page number), and not a dedicated Kamino tankoubon.  Hmph... figures why the date on the release for this tankoubon was November 2010.  That said, I'm going to make a re-compilation of chapters 7 and 8 with the new, updated RAWs.  The upside to this?  Better scan quality and, yes, no light sabers.

Hope to get them out before the new year.

[Kamino Ryu-ya] Mozaiku X Sanshimai Ch8 [ENG]

Merry Christmas! :D

Yes, this is my little present to you guys.  Seeing that the script was lying around gathering dust, I thought 'what the heck' and went ahead and cleaned/typeset the whole thing.  It's been a while since I've done a whole project all by myself, but it's a good reminder of the hard work that the editors go through when working on cleans/redraws.

This release, in particular, is a special one too.  I upped the standards in quality (thanks to some tips from a good friend), and though I'm pretty sure I couldn't cover all of the tips pointed out to me, I think I did a good job making this release as high quality as possible.

So what happened after the cliffhanger of chapter 7?  More sex, yeah... but I just have to say... I LOVE TSUNDERES HOLYSHIT!!!  Quite a couple of DAAAW moments in this chapter, too, so there's much to enjoy!

PS - the megaupload and rapidshare links will follow... I leave that to tech.  Plus, in case he bitches at me again for some weird reason because of the mediafire link, expect that to change, too.

[news] What happens in Vegas... + Christmas Greetings

In Vegas for a small vacation (more like business since its Xmas and the bookie's get hot). Staying at the Bellagio in one of thier larger suites @ $850ish a night. See you guys Tuesday (28th).



P.S. I don't stay in Vegas for New Years, dangerous.

Yeah, so sorry for the delay.  I don't even get why Tech refused to continue working on this chapter despite the setback, because it's basically sex sounds more than half of the way.  Our beloved spectacle-clad SFX girl showcases an even dirtier mouthful of sex smack, and we get to see more of Sakura's titillating sex toys.  A lot of fun, but still an interesting twist at the end of this chapter.  I won't go and spoil it for you, though... :O

Now, to formally introduce our newest member... from just plain "recruit", everyone please give a warm welcome to SCRIPTED.  I noticed she peeked in a sly remark in the Waha post, so looks like it worked in luring her back in here... everyone, grab her!  Cheers on a job well done, Scripted. ;)

[Update] No Fauking Wai!

That was me about 15 minutes ago when I checked the team's email to find Mozaiku x Sanshimai chapter 7 lying in wait to be typeset... apparently, I've been so up in the clouds with my translations that it completely escaped me that Recruit already submitted her clean like... I dunno, 3 weeks ago?

Jesus Christ, so that's what happened.  Some of you out there are probably wondering why we're churning out all these releases, and yet still no chapter 7... well, here's a rundown of what happened...

1.  Chapter 7 script is already done.  RAW handed over to Dask for cleaning.
2.  Dask is so absorbed in Black Ops that he completely ignores the whole project.
3.  Kraut picks up the project, but ends up submitting a different clean altogether, then tells me he doesn't know about any chapter 7...
4.  Enter Recruit, who picks up the project and cleans it in Dask's steed.
5.  Tech gets the clean, but moments before he can begin typesetting, his computer fails on him.
6.  1 week passes as we wait for Tech's machine to get repaired, and soon after he finally gets it back and starts working on chapter 7, his HDD dies on him, and all his progress is left to kaput.
7.  Dask is banned from Black Ops and decides to take a vacation abroad.
8.  Noel comes along and offers to help us with Sanshimai, but out of my excitement, I ask for her help with chapter 7, as well...
9.  I realize that I had the clean all along, and because I'm such a douche for not realizing it in the first place, I decide to typeset it myself.

So that's pretty much where we stand, at the moment.  I'm going to go ahead and typeset this and get it over with, because it's been over a month since the last chapter came out, and it's just pathetic knowing that we can do better.  I know... I want this out as much as you guys do, so give me 3 days tops.  Promise.

Sorry, fellas.  No Akira pron for you today.  Just some wholesome, good 'ole non-H manga based on a parody off that laidback anime show ARIA.  I really liked the show because it gave me a ridiculous desire to want to visit Venice and basically hit on female gondoliers.  Too bad they're mostly burly apes that like to make hand gestures to the sound of a baritonesque canzone.  Still, I'd like to drop by, anyway.

But back to the release, this was THE first doujin I had ever translated, which I worked on together with the lovable RECRUIT!  She was supposed to make her debut (with a proper name, too) with Mozaiku x Sanshimai chapter 7, but she pulled off another disappearing act.  Instead, I'd like to give her a "pseudo-introduction" with this release.  Here's to hoping she crawl her way back here...

Do take the time and rest your chaffed member with this rage-reducing story.  In fact, I'm thinking of doing other Uraraka works, because this guy's art is just wickedly cute.  What do you think?

[release] It's raining ~AAAAH!!!

Can you hate us for raining you with so many releases in one day?  Of course not!  And this is ISHIKEI, god damn it!  I don't even know where this came from, but the moment I saw it and a megane-musume onee-chan... fuck it, I'm down.  I translated this for Noel as a collaboration with LWB, so props to them for the amazing work they put into editing this thing.  Not to mention Nemesis for working his magic in cleaning this thing out.  It's a religious thing to have to put lots of effort into ishkei works, but the finished product is always worth it.

It probably goes without saying, but fly over to LWB and check it out for yourself!

[release] Nothing but Raep today

Yes.  Raep.  Lots of it.  Consensual rape, classic rape, Tech's PC getting fried after just 3 days from the shop rape, and Ed's mindfuck ruleset rape... It's been quite the day, but we've been rewarded with two back-to-back collaboration releases - the first one with our friends over at Team Vanilla, and the second with Trinity Translations.

Yes, we can't get enough of Kamino Ryu-ya - and we're pretty sure neither can you.  We've been thinking of making it a point to bring out this artist's works more in the English-translation scene, and this is the first step in making that happen.  Many thanks to Noel of Team Vanilla for the editing!

[news] Scanslation Standards

Some of you guys who are probably even just slightly aware of how things work behind the scenes might have noticed that there's a sort of way we translators label our works.  Despite this apparent "rule of thumb", there actually are NO hard-fast rules or standards in how a group can go about naming a certain work.  You may have personally cursed a group for labeling images in a certain way that made your computer jumble them up in a senseless disarray, or cry at the fact that the 5 minutes you spent downloading a tank turned out to be an untranslated version, or worse, a non-English version.

So along comes Nash of LWB proposing a standard for group releases.  By standard, we're not talking about a stiff rubric that will be policed to the death.  It's simply a highly recommended means of being orderly - kinda like being obsessively compulsive while strutting a catwalk in a pink tutu.  Go figure.

The proposed ruleset can be found here.  If you have any comments about it, feel free to comment here, or fly over to Team Vanilla for a more thorough explanation of the entire effort.  If you have the time, take this short survey so we can get an idea of what you guys think of this entire ruleset thingy.  This ruleset will be implemented by gTeam, starting with the next release.  So far, we are the first group outside the LWB circle to sign up for this ruleset, and we highly encourage other teams to adapt it as well.

[status] Computer is finally back + lets get working

Computer is back and completely hooked up, got some movie OST playing and starting on some projects right now.

[news] ToLoveRu Darkness chapter 3 info and current status

First, yes we will still continue our translation of Chapter 3 and the translation is currently 20% . We are still looking for a cleaner and have fired off some joint requests since none of our in-house cleaners have the skill (our new member, Dask and Kraut) or the time (Ed) to clean text overlays so bleh. The main reason we picked up Darkness was because we expected to get the fastest QUALITY translation (the current translation of chapter 3 is pitiful and Ed is laughing his ass off at the quality) and for a small publicity boost. We here at GT have always placed quality over speed (why bother with a product that was 40% faster but with less than 20% of the quality) and this translation will show to true fans of the series.  

HOWEVER, we are currently having some trouble with the planning of Darkness considering the translated copy was released pretty much hours after the raw hit the P2P network. We are requesting a joint request for other team's to come up and help with the release of this project with a PROPER translation. We are currently looking for a cleaner who can manage text overlay and preferably a perfectionist (makes QC'ing alot easier) and a typesetter who can also handle text overlay and handle constructive (and very, very, VERY OCD) QCing.

Anyway, Darkness aside, I've got a huge shipment of parts today and can expect my computer returned with a new CPU cooler, new sound card and a new hard drive configuration (fully external excluding the boot drive) later today or early tomorrow so expect our December projects to come out like clockwork to make up for this massive delay that sprang from nowhere. I'll try to get pics and specs of my rig after I get it back and start working on the projects we have backed up.

As for the projects listed for December, we are in the midst of creating a new tab up top as a general status for every project we are in the midst of releasing. The tab will contain info from projects we just decided to pick up, to the current status of translations and scripts, cleaning, typesetting and finally, QC.

TL;DR: The early-released TLRD ch3 sucks monkey fuck - we can do hell better.  Ed cried because he wasted his time, but will only continue translating if someone offers to edit the RAW.  We think people deserve a GOOD translation - not some weaboo, half-assed shit.

[news] Happy birthday and update

first, this is being posted from my droid so dont expect a literate and punctual post because its limited. anyway, happy birthday to ed who turns twenty something and took the day off but didnt bother to log... my computer is still in the shop and will be ready monday night or early tuesday since i had orginally planned to upgrade to a coolermaster brand with a passive heat sink and a fan but instead opted to switch to a zalman one which is the main reason for the delay... stay tuned

[news] It's December! ~ Upcoming releases (hopefully)

I know I've been posting quite often, but I guess it's because I'm finding quite a lot of time on my hands.  I feel a bit sad with the slow pace of releases, and since Tech is kinda out for the week, and Dask is pretty much lost in the world of Black Ops, I'm sitting around translating scripts with no output.  Their problem, really... because they're just piling up the backlog.  The second reason why I feel sad is because it's almost my birthday... I'm getting old! D:
