[News] Now Recruiting!

It was really just a matter of time... and from just 4 obviously distracted sods, we're thinking of expanding a little bit.  Editor-wise, we're looking for skill.  Translator-wise, I'm just looking for someone to help me with the load.  Here's the rundown:

Editor Wanted!
Job description - In charge of anything related to editing images, which includes image enhancement, cleaning, and typesetting.  Ideally, the editor should have the following qualities:

  • Has experience using any photo editing software, preferably Adobe Photoshop
  • Knows how to edit images based on levels and curves
  • Can clean images for both written text and noticeable noise/dirt/distortions
  • Can redraw images that require them, such as text overlays or translucent bubbles
  • Knows how to typeset
  • Has a commanding knowledge of the English language, and can proofread translator scripts
The last bullet means that an Editor doesn't just copy-pasta what is written on the script.  Editors are expected to give good input and correspond with the script writer appropriately so that QC becomes much easier.

Translator Wanted!
Job description - In charge of making scripts in the prescribed script format of the gTeam (will be taught), as well as coordinating translation projects with other members of the team or other teams, in general.  Ideally, the translator should have the following qualities:
  • Has a working understanding of the Japanese language - specifically, at least JLPT 3
  • Is not a weeabo.  (I can tell if your shit is real.  Don't mess with me.)
  • Open to criticism and having their work T/L checked prior to release
  • Corresponds regularly with editors regarding their script during any phase of scanlating
Translator qualities are pretty straightforward.  Even if you're new to this, so long as you're willing to learn or put your Japanese skills to use, then try applying.

If you're interested, simply send us an email at gteamtranslators@gmail.com, and leave what position you want to apply for in the message header as so:

Application - Editor or Application - Translator

If you have any previous projects that you'd like to send along with your application, feel free to do so - but please limit them to g.e-hentai links, or if they're non-h, upload them to a image sharing site like imageshack.

At the moment, we're looking for at least 2 editors and 1 translator.  If and when you are selected, we might give you a few mini-projects to test your skills before sending you out the fray on any major releases.  Thanks for taking the time to read this, and hopefully - welcome to the gTeam! :D

[release] Miku X Rin

[ESSENTIA (Fujima Takuya)] Miku X Rin (Vocaloid 2) [ENG]

Tech has a theory on this one.  He thinks Fujima is Chinese. D:  As to why he thinks that, I dunno... but give me full color vocaloid and "leek-up-your-ass" action?  Hell yeah, I'd tap that. :D

There are a couple of things going on in the group, at the moment.  This release, in particular, sums it up.  For one thing, I policed the whole editing of this thing.  For some reason, I've been editing more than translating these past few days... I seriously need to send my editors through boot camp or something. D:

The truth is, this is perhaps the first serious release we have ever done.  I'm talking about actual sitting down and psychoANALizing everything to make sure nothing's wrong with it.  I burned Kraut with my criticisms on his cleans, and my English got shot to threads with Tech's incessant complaints regarding expressions and sentence clarity.  In the end, the credits page ended up having 6 people in it - and I used my "everything" tag again - sorta.  I don't mind the enthusiasm from people, but man... this release really tired me out, a bit.  I'm sleep deprived and running out of caffeine, so shoot me now.

[Random] Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

A bit late, I know... but my Valentine's day was spent in the hospital... plus, my car is in for repairs, so I won't be able to go out on a DECENT date until next week or something.  Oh well... more translations, then.

[Update] Just an update...

I have a whole new respect for editors, now.  I've been crunching out hours working on redraws for a certain release - either because I don't know what the hell I'm doing, or it's really just THAT hard.  Either way, we're looking at four projects on the waiting list to be released.

As much as I'd like to continue churning out scripts to fill up the "backlog" that I was talking about in a previous post, I'm finding myself doing a lot of editing work on the side.  In addition, I've been elbowing some people here and there to help me with a certain something that will, hopefully, mean a more speedy release of a "you-know-what" that should have been done ages ago.  Yeah, that's my speaking in cryptic.

Oh, and I think Karma got to me.  Here I am, flapping my mouth of and saying how Tech has it bad with his computer crapping out on him a buhzillion times... and my laptop just so happens to crap out on me, as well.  Just the screen, though... and since it's already 6 years old, that's the senescence kicking in.  I can still work by plugging it in to a monitor, but my mobility (and flexibility) will be severely effected...

Regardless, let's just say that there are a couple big things coming up.  Hopefully, we can bring them out without any hitches.

So to my colleagues: "Get back to work!"

[Release] Mozaiku X Sanshimai Ch. 9

[Kamino Ryu-ya] Mozaiku X Sanshimai Chapter 9 [ENG]

Ahh... Just how I like my Tsundere... cosplaying in a miko outfit two sizes too small.  Yep.  Definitely worth the wait. :D

Speaking of wait, how much longer till chapter 10, you might ask?  It depends.  For one thing, I'm taking over the whole Sanshimai project from now on.  That means the credits will be just me.  Sure, a little QC help from the others, but pretty much just me.

Just in case it seems a little up in the clouds for some of you, Tech explained somewhere in the comments that we picked up Sanshimai just because the translations for it (c/o Phantom) were coming out a little slowly, so we decided to step in.  Likewise, Phantom is still continuing with his translations, so we're just "filling the gap", so to speak.

Either way, I really have no idea anymore what to think of.  I just want to translate this Kamino work - wouldn't you agree?

[release (sorta)] Bricola 4

This goes against everything Genesis stands for (and indirectly what I stand for) when I look at doujin; no plot, horrid art, shit series & straight up sex. Then again, I had the script and didn't want to waste it knowing that this would be a big hit just because its fap material and decided to send the traffic over to Trinity Translations. Go over to their blog here.

[Rant] My plate.

I asked Tech to give me until the end of the week to get my shit together before I start churning out scripts to create a backlog on projects to be edited/typeset/whatnot.  I'm just so flooded with requirements from my last rotation that I'm literally finding ways to procrastinate... but heck, it's biting me in the rear.

So as it stands, no translating for a few days.  Sigh...

Still, there's quite a line up for the month, and Tech and I decided to focus on specific artists to sort of "specialize" in, so to speak.  We already thought about Amatou to start with, then we ended up including Essentia as well.  There's also a couple Kamino works we have lined up, and just to spite Tech, a French Letter. D:  Loli-attack!

I also have a few "personal" projects on the side, so putting it all together, I'm looking at well over 12 scripts on the backlog.  And here I was hoping I could catch up on some of my anime... I haven't even finished some shows off from the Fall season, god damn it!

Anyway... I'm kinda looking forward to translating (regularly) again... so I just wish this week would end... sigh.
