Dask - I recently just got back to building again - minus the fact that I have less money since I started living alone :P Anyway, I aimed for a setup that will greatly aid me in my daily activities. Which includes: internet browsing, coding, image editing, torrenting (ahem), listening to music at good quality, watching movies, gaming and school works (online classes and documenting). The netbook below isn't mine, but I borrow it when I want to play games and I'm in need of talking to the idiot(s) or just facebook-ing.

I have to clarify a couple things here.  This project was originally a "freelance experiment" on my part to work with Team Vanilla, not necessarily as a joint.  This was before Nash suggested I join the LWB forums as a collaborator.  From there, I met Bamboo, who originally picked up this project before I came along.  He graciously allowed me to take up the project while promising he could take part in QC - to which I'm grateful for.  And to top it off, Altereggo from TV took up the project and put pretty much everything together.

So come release date, it became unclear whether or not this was still a "freelance project" on my part with TV, or just another joint.  Looks like it's just another joint. D:  Many thanks again to everyone from Team Vanilla for putting up with our countless joints!

But this project is a little special to me.  I personally enjoyed Angel Beats!, but I also happen to be a fan of Nekoi Mie.  After seeing this work based on Angel Beats! and featuring Kanade... I nearly shat in my pants.  Coupled with Nekoi's pauci-detailed style of art, I'd say this is one great work that works with the original character idiosyncrasies almost perfectly.  A highly enjoyable read indeed. :D

[Poll] Just a Question...

I was talking to a friend the other day who happens to be a skilled photoshop editor - although he doesn't work on H.  I told him about how scanlations work, and he brought up an interesting question: What's harder to find - good translators or good editors?

I was further reminded about this question when I read a post in the TV blog discussing a problem regarding editors.  I also looked at my own situation and wondered if it could be possible to find a buddy translator for gTeam, but Tech told me that "fluent Japanese-to-English translators are hunted to extinction".

Now, I don't want people turning this into a ninja versus pirates thing between editors and translators... I'm just REALLY curious to know what the demographics of the whole scene is like.  I can't generalize the scanlating scene as a whole, either, because I know H-scanlators aren't as commonplace as non-H ones.

So that said, I'd like to hear your opinions.  Feel free to click your vote up on the poll placed on the gadget bar to the right of the blog. :)

[rant] The ROBOT project - Updated

A little update on the "idea" I had back in 2010 before the year ended...  I was looking around to see if there were any RAWs for this work online... and apparently, it has only been sporadically scanned, and only Volume 1 was translated waaay back in 2008 by some defunct scanlation group that has a fixation for rabbits.  (and why volume 1?  That was translated, already...)

Yeah.

That said, I REALLY want to work on this project, but there are a couple things that concern me.  First, this is Range Murata we're talking about.  He's big.  He's influential.  He can send the DMCAs coming in lickety split.  Second, it's a thick book.  Correction: it's a thick, GORGEOUS book.  There's no way in hell I'm debinding this thing.  And lastly, it's a difficult edit.  A difficult edit.

So it's looking pretty vague whether or not I'm going to continue with this idea, but I'm just raising the prospect.  If any of you are interested in helping me in this endeavor (providing raws, editing, whatever), then feel free to leave your contact email in the comments and I'll correspond with you on how we can get this project rolling.

Yup.  Another Ryu-ya work.  I really... REALLY like her work.  She's a genius.  She knows how to make them tsundere nice and juicy.  No difference here, either.  If you like your tsundere a little athletic - then by all means, this is perfect.  Go for the birdie, yeah! :D

EDIT: Oh yeah... and it was my first try at re-drawing in this one.  Okay... second.  The first time was a translucent bubble from a touhou doujin that we have yet to release. :O

[backlog] 12 days later

Yawn. Finally got my computer back and spent the past 24 hours setting it up for basic use after a complete reformat. Installing drivers and plugin's are REALLY annoying when you can't remember what needs to be installed when and why.

I finally got off my lazy ass and also fixed the tag system, basing it more on what the post is mainly about and not fetishes. Testing it to see if its easier to navigate, comment down below to tell us if you prefer this or the older (fucked) tagging system. Σ(ﾟДﾟ)

Anyway, we are on the verge of releasing another Kamino work and possibly a K-ON!! work by the next 5 days (don't hold us to that) and after that, our group will start a massive backlog considering Ed and Dawn are both extremely busy for the next 2 weeks and we are opening our small group to try and recruit some dedicated editors and translators at the moment. We've probably got 3 projects at the moment going through translations and another 6+ that are Full Color goodness so expect a deluge of crap starting 12 days from now. (ΘεΘ; )

[update] RAID and Hijackers!

So a quick update because of what has been going on lately;

Our previous release was hijacked by some dick who just combined chapters 1&2 and uploaded with no description or anything. I'm still working out the kinks in the g.e forums to get our copy to replace a hijacked gallery. It's hard considering I lurked in the forums with 4 posts and the person who hijacked happens to be a major uploader on g.e (I wonder how many of those galleries are hijacks?)

My computer is being a pain in the ass, even my shop guy complains about what I want to be done to it. It originally started as a computer built with Top Shelf parts originally and I ended up changing mostly everything except the motherboard and CPU out. The computer was originally spec'd to be gaming rig with some chance of using it for 3D purposes and what not. At where it stands, it's on the fence between a gaming spec and a file server.

The computer is getting more RAM and going from DDR3 1333mz 2GB x6 to DDR3 1333mz 4GBx6 and adding [2] 1TB 7.2k Caviar black's with 64mb cache. My previous plan of having a RAID 0 setup for my boot drive was cut short when I found out my current motherboard does not have enough SATA ports and does not even have a RAID controller (+1 for me not doing proper homework).

I guess I'll be thinking of picking up a SuperMicro rig and spec'ing it for a personal file server and maybe hosting a site (if our team ever gets that far)

That's right!  Our lovable Miko-chan is back with more silly misunderstandings and cute, happy sex.  Many thanks to Noel and Nash of Team Vanilla for this joint!

There's not much to say about this release, other than it's Ryu-ya, and it's a continuation of this release.  It's not enough to make me want to see a dedicated series for this story, but still good stuff, nonetheless. :)

[rant] It's not repairs, it's an overhaul! (minor delay)

Ok, I just sent my computer to my friend's computer shop for a complete overhaul of my system and with a tuneup and whatnot. In other words, he's stripping my computer down to the most basic form of the case and then scrubbing the entire case clean to remove dust. I'm also having all of my HDD's checked for consistency, removing my lower performing HDD's (caviar green) and installing an extra 2.3TB of space along with a RAID 0 setup with 150GB 10K Velociraptors. Getting the motherboard completely removed and reapplying new thermal paste on the CPU. Because of how much work is needed, my computer is probably going to stay in the shop until Tuesday earliest but I'm not expecting it until Thursdays at least considering this guy loves to take his time in matters like this... Expect a release the minute I get my computer back because it's currently sitting on a near releasable project (just missing Staff Notes). Sigh.

I decided to dedicate some time to working on non-H scanlations.  So as not to clutter the main site, I put up my own personal blog for archiving and updating purposes.  No surprise - it's wordpress.  If you're feeling a little sober and chafed, drop by and check what I have to share.  Don't worry, though... This will comprise of projects on the side, and it'll pretty much serve as my break time from all of the "aahn!" and "imma cummin'!" I see, day in and day out.

Woo, New Years.... Anyway, expect something to go live either tomorrow or Wednesday depending on how the final QC goes and whatnot. Ed is currently hiding from me on MSN and just sending me emails and having a hard time understanding the English language and typing up scripts, Dask has finally returned from his little vacation in the Philippines and feeling like a total boss because of the shit value of the Philippine Peso and returned to his depressing, lonely, boring, poor college student life. Our newest member has mysteriously vanished and I haven't heard from her for about 2 weeks but whatever. This is cool, though.  The final tankoubon of Sanshimai came out a year or two after its initial release as separate parts in a monthly comic, and now it comes bundled with a drama CD.  There seems to have been some sort of delay, as we can see in the atogaki by Ryu-ya, herself:

Basically, what's going on here is that Himawari is complaining about the delay in the release, and how Ryu-ya even had the time to release other manga in spite of it all (Miko makes a cameo appearance!).  Ryu-ya explains that she pretty much had the story summed up to around 3 main arcs (for each of the girls), but suddenly felt that it needed a personal arc for Akira to "balance" it all... since she wasn't sure how it would mix with the general flow of things, she took a lot of time procrastinating about it to the editor... which pretty much sums up the entire delay in the release of the tankoubon.  The solution?  Four-some.  Sounds like a no-brainer, tbh...
