[Release] Shintaichuu, Nuru-nuru desu. (Chapters 1 & 2)

[Kamino Ryu-ya] Shintaichuu, Nuru-Nuru Desu. Ch 1&2 (ENG)

No, we aren't blind.  We're well aware that a commissioned translation of chapters 1 and 7 of this tank were recently released... and chapter 5, in particular, has also been hanging around for quite some time as a lone release... but we're pretty serious on this one.

We lurve our Ryu-ya, which is why we're going to give this tank a Genesis touch, from beginning to end.  Pretty clever, eh?  But seriously, this will be a full-blown project on our end, and we'll see to it that we get to see all eleven chapters of this work fully translated.

So what's in chapter 1 and 2?  All-around basketball team manager that never says "no" meets unruly, hormone-driven, teen punks.  Sounds like fun.  Then we have innocent-looking angel face who turns out to be quite the nymphomaniac.  For what it's worth, the delicacies in the lines chosen by Ryu-ya are what make her works more than just good eye candy.

  2. Oh and besides, we all know you're doing a better job on this than that ac12 hack.

  9. Thanks guys !

I compared with the AC124 version, maybe it would be overdoing it to say there's an overwhelming difference. Maybe for other works it would be too obvious.

On top of all, it's just my opinion of course, but comparing yours and his, graphically, I think you went overboard with the levels correction. Or you didn't use the same raws.

I usually keep an eye on the decensoring possibilities, and while it was still doable with Ac124's version, your version presses "midway shades" into the darker side of the tones, and decensoring suddenly becomes much harder when it's like that, I for instance could do the first, but not the latter version.

I hope you don't take the comment badly, I think of it as positive criticism, go easier with the levels ;)

Now, another thing, what's this stuff in the credits about fiscal year and hospital hell, for heaven's sake, it didn't make sense :D

I see what you mean about the levels. To be honest, I'm not in the best of positions to properly evaluate levels, because the original monitor I used for all my graphics/layout purposes broke down on me, and the current monitor I'm using sucks monkey fuck.

The good thing, though, is that I'm upgrading my computer within the week, and it'll have a much better monitor with more calibration properties and tools. Yey!

As for the gibberish that Tech was saying... don't mind him. He's crazy. D:

  11. We must all be crazy to spend so much time on something that's, when you look closer, simply fapping materials, anyway :D

Thanks for the reply, and, well, guys, keep a thought for the persons who may feel like decensoring your releases, eh ? The darker mid tones, the more guesswork implied (re-creating instead of fixing something still existing or at least using something still existing as a working basis), and too much guesswork means it's too hard to decensor ;)

  12. @Oliver: Actually, I consider that slightly underleveled. Blacks are not true black, at least not on the pages I looked at.

I dunno about the decensoring thing. I think it adds nothing to it really - you know how private parts look and it's not like someone went through this with the fattest sharpie they could find, like in some other stuff.

And I hope I didn't hear you say "it's just fap material", it always makes me wonder why I don't just quit if it's just that and nothing more.

  13. Oh yeah, and decensorers could also just take the raws for reference. It's not rocket science to do that, copypaste the decensored parts onto the translated pages and adjust the levels.

Kinda makes it sound like decensorers are monkeys if you don't expect them to know how to do THAT much.

I think what Oliver is trying to say is that a majority of people DO see this as simply fap material. As much as I know how it peeves you to hear that kind of sentiment, you have to admit that the general population of readers DO in fact think this way.

As for the levels part, again... I can't really evaluate it myself, because I don't have the best monitor atm. Looking at the histograms, I think the midtones are shifted a little to the low side, and the shadows themselves aren't all that far down the graph. It's a pretty weird leveling job, but when I asked tech about it, he said Scripted worked with a monitor that LACKED A RED CHANNEL. wtf. D:

Well, comments and suggestions taken in. Thanks again for all the responses. :)

About the "it's just fapping materials" line, I was being self-humorous, mocking myself, spending lots of time on something that most of the people only view as fapping materials, if you want the precision :)
Me, I see a form of manga art, as worthy as non-adult mangas on rare occasions, with the additional advantage of offering great arousing shots, and potentially serving as fapping materials. And the pleasure of sharing my crop of the best, of having a blog, makes me happy everyday, it's cheaper than a shrink, on the contrary, I have beer money to spend with friends :D

Decensoring, for me, is a HUGE improvement. You know the "willing suspension of disbelief" thingy, right ?
Well, there's the graphical equivalent, with or without censorship. If I know a manga is censored, I'll always be on a defensive stance, against the likelyhood a fucken censorship bar is going to waste a significant share of my pleasure on a picture I like a lot.
If the manga is uncensored, this waryness, this defensive stance, is no more, and I enjoy the manga fully, trusting it not to betray me.

About using the raws to decensor, two words : too long.
As for nearly everything in life, it's a time VS opportunity balance. Having to take japanese raws, to handle two different versions, copying and pasting, taking care of potential SFXes going over...
It would consume much more time, and, frankly, the WAFF of "I did it, yay!" wouldn't be worth it anymore, if it takes even longer. In my personal case, at least, I suppose someone with more motivation or more free time (and yet, I'm a productivity freak) would act a different way.

I wonder what Coleridge would think of you applying the "willing suspension of disbelief" to porn. D: Though I can't argue about that... I used the same argument against Tech the other day on a similarly unrealistic event that happened in another work we were translating, hehe...

Anyway, back to the topic... I kinda understand the added value of decensors, but when you think about it - that technically adds to the argument of "this is fap material". You don't really NEED it to be decensored in order to enjoy it for what it is (story-wise, art-wise, etc)... but yeah, it's like an added bonus to see it decensored. Kinda like a limited edition of something... I dunno. :P

But yeah, opening possibilities for a decensor and making it easier for those that would like to is always better than just leaving it at that.

  17. You guys have ahd a couple of decensored releases, right? The NiseMIDIdoronoka ones...

There's actually a lot of people who absolutely love de-censored Releases, and, c'mon, it does sounds better to have a Translated, decensored version of a doujin instead of only-Translated.

Still , while it's a nice add, it's not always necessary. I always though actually doing it was a gigantic pain, because very few people work on it.
