It was really just a matter of time... and from just 4 obviously distracted sods, we're thinking of expanding a little bit. Editor-wise, we're looking for skill. Translator-wise, I'm just looking for someone to help me with the load. Here's the rundown:
Editor Wanted!
Job description - In charge of anything related to editing images, which includes image enhancement, cleaning, and typesetting. Ideally, the editor should have the following qualities:
- Has experience using any photo editing software, preferably Adobe Photoshop
- Knows how to edit images based on levels and curves
- Can clean images for both written text and noticeable noise/dirt/distortions
- Can redraw images that require them, such as text overlays or translucent bubbles
- Knows how to typeset
- Has a commanding knowledge of the English language, and can proofread translator scripts
The last bullet means that an Editor doesn't just copy-pasta what is written on the script. Editors are expected to give good input and correspond with the script writer appropriately so that QC becomes much easier.
Translator Wanted!
Job description - In charge of making scripts in the prescribed script format of the gTeam (will be taught), as well as coordinating translation projects with other members of the team or other teams, in general. Ideally, the translator should have the following qualities:
- Has a working understanding of the Japanese language - specifically, at least JLPT 3
- Is not a weeabo. (I can tell if your shit is real. Don't mess with me.)
- Open to criticism and having their work T/L checked prior to release
- Corresponds regularly with editors regarding their script during any phase of scanlating
Translator qualities are pretty straightforward. Even if you're new to this, so long as you're willing to learn or put your Japanese skills to use, then try applying.
If you're interested, simply send us an email at gteamtranslators@gmail.com, and leave what position you want to apply for in the message header as so:
Application - Editor or Application - Translator
If you have any previous projects that you'd like to send along with your application, feel free to do so - but please limit them to g.e-hentai links, or if they're non-h, upload them to a image sharing site like imageshack.
At the moment, we're looking for at least 2 editors and 1 translator. If and when you are selected, we might give you a few mini-projects to test your skills before sending you out the fray on any major releases. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and hopefully - welcome to the gTeam! :D
There are good things in having a small Team: More control (in the overall process and in quality), it's easier to coordinate and get in touch, less members makes for people to get in touch in more friendly terms (mails between each other not always work-related...)
ReplyDeleteIf you want to have more reach and less workload, Collabs are always good.
Just my opinion.
>>Is not a weeabo. (I can tell if your shit is real. Don't mess with me.)
ReplyDeleteThat is so tottemo zurui desu (;_;)
@Phantom Renegade
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. I, too, like a small team... but the current skill set we have, as far as editors go, just won't do. The mere fact that I'm doing a lot of editing work for the past few days is proof of this.
As for a single translator, me and Tech have always been talking about having at least one more. Note, it's just ONE.
@Phantom Renegade
ReplyDeleteI say I take over your team in a 'non-violent' way. D:
Come at me, bro.
ReplyDeleteNah, we're happy being a three member Team.
